Water dissolves different substances in it and that's the reason it is a good solvent...and compared to other liquids water has high dissolving capacity and hence it is called a universal solvent. Waters chemical composition is da reason behind it being a universal solvent.Water molecules have a polar arrangement of O and H-atoms...where H has + charge nd O has - charge. This makes da water molecules attract vit oth molecules and da attraction force between water and da oth molecule is soo high dat it dissolves da other molecule/substance completely.
