A compound is the mixture of two or more elements in a fixed proportion

. As waters chemical equation is H2O so there is only one reason for or water to considered as a compound .

A compound is anything which is made up of 2 or more elements or things,  

Like the aluminium and fibre material used in A380 is a compound material.  

The aluminium and brass container used to cook(as aluminium is lighter and brass conducts heat better), is also a compound  

Similarly a water molecule, H2O has 2 atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen which are bound together by covalent bond,  

And two water molecules are held together by the secondary bond called the Hydrogen bond.  

Now since Water has two different elements,
