✤QUESTION: Water is flowing at the rate of 15 km/ hr through cylindrical pipe of diameter 14cm into cuboidal pond which is 50 m long and 44 m wide. In what time level of water in the pond rise by 21cm?

❖❖❖❖❖❖SOLUTION❖❖❖❖❖❖❖

■Rate of water flow= 15 km/ hr

Diameter of pipe = 14 cm

Radius of pipe, r = 14/2 = 7 cm = 0.07 m

Let, length of water in pipe be H = ?

Length of cuboidal pond, l = 50 m

Width of pond, b = 44 m

Level of water rise

in the pond, h= 21 cm = 0.21 m

Volume of water to be

filled in the pond = l ×b×h

= 50×44× 0.21 m^3

= 462 m^3

Volume of water through pipe in the considerate will be equal to the volume of pond SO,

π×r^2×H = 462

22/7×(0.07)^2 × H = 462

22/7×0.07×0.07× H = 462

H = 4620000 / (22×7)

H= 30,000 m

H = 30 km

It means water has to travel distance of 30 km through the pipe with the speed of 15 km/hr.

We know that,

Time = distance/speed

Time = 30 / 15

Time = 2 hours.

SO IT WILL TAKE 2 HOURS TO FILL THE POND WITH 21 CM OF STANDING WATER.
