Water is flowing through a pipe of non-uniform cross-section. In first
pipe speed of water 4m/s and pressure is 20000Pa. Find the speed and
pressure of water in the second pipe. Radius of the pipes are 2cm and
4cm respectively.

Answer:

Diameter of pipe at first point (d

1)=20cm=0.2m.

Radius of pipe at first point

(r1 )=

2

0.2

=0.1m

Velocity of water at first point

(v1 )=1ms

−1

Diameter of pipe at second point

(d2)=5cm=0.05m

Radius of pipe at second point,

(r2)=

2

0.05 =0.025m

According to equation of continuity,

A2V1=A2V2

πr12v1= πr2 V2

v2 =( R2 R1)× V1V1V

=( 0.0250.1 )

2×1 v2

=16m/s
