Water is never added to acid in order to dilute it . It is because it is an exothermic change and hence a huge amount of energy is evolved . This can be explosive and prove to be fatal . So in order to dilute acids , acids are added drop by drop to water with constant stirring .

Answer:

Explanation:

When water is added to acid it is a very high exothermic reaction due to which the beaker bursts and the person gets hurt.

To dilute an acid, acid should be added to water drop by drop by constant stirring due to which the heat gets distributed and thus the acid gets diluted without the bursting of beaker....
