When we say water is tasteless we actually mean about the pure water that contain no mineral, hence it gives no taste .

But water from rivers tastes different from purified water and the difference in taste varies according to the source of it.

The components present in the water gives it different taste.

The river water has it's taste due to the soil whereas the purified water has it's taste due to the chemical present in it.

But the pure water has neither mineral nor carbohydrate in it so it is said to be tasteless.
