The answer would be different for both a well and a pond. There are several reason why the water level can drop in a well. Evaporation. As temperatures rise, the water will begin to evaporate and if there is little to no rain during the summer months, the wells water can not be replenished.

because the water present in ponds is evaporated due to the heat , so the water present in ponds decreases and this same happens with the water of well
