Although India is surrounded by water on three sides, there is a FRESHWATER scarcity for all. Ironically even Cherrapunji, which receives almost 1800cm rainfall each year, is a prey to fresh water scarcity. This us due to excessive pumpage By the illiterates and wastage of water. Thus, to ensure freshwater supply to every people belonging to every sections of the society, water management is needed to ensure availability of freshwater to all.
