Water meniscus in a glass tube is concave while that of mercury is convex ? Why?

The cohesive force among water molecules is less than the adhesive force among the glass-water molecules....however the cohesive force among the mercury molecules is more than the adhesive force among the mercury-glass molecules....as a result the water maniscus is concave and the mercury  menicus is convex in a glass tube
