The first osmotic system operates at root hair cell. It absorbs water from soil through osmosis. The pathway is cell wall, plasma-lemma, cytoplasm, tonoplast and central vacuole. From root hair eel, water passes into vacuoles of adjacent cortical cell through osmosis.
