Sources of water pollution are categorized in two:

The natural sources are gases, animal waste, minerals, living organisms, soil and other pollutants soluble in water
Human sources
Sewage and domestic waste, industrial waste, agricultural waste, nuclear waste, oil spill, ockd thermal pollution.
Effects :
Domestic waste contains phosphates which leads to form algae
Industrial waste forms acid rain when it falls into water and lowers the pH of water.
Oil spill forms a layer of oil on the water and they cannot be cleaned so, many birds and sea mammals die
Preventive measures are
Do not dump waste on water bodies
Do not realease hot water into water bodies it may decrease oxygen level.
