One of the reason for water scarcity is large and growing population..
This increasing population requires more food and water. For more cultivation HYV seeds are used which need more irrigation and so water is used for irrigation.
The growing population also fulfill their water needs by exploiting ground water which leads to water scarcity.
AS population grows, the waste produced by them also increases and water pollution also increases which leads to degradation of existing fresh water resources...
