Water is the basic necessity of every human being, but water scarcity is a major issue that is rising very rapidly in India nowadays. The problem has become so severe that in many states the groundwater has almost dried up and people have to depend on water supply from other sources. In addition, water is one of the most misused natural resources that we still waste. It is the central point of our lives but unfortunately, not our priority concern.
Earlier, people understood the value of water and planned their lives around it. Moreover, many civilizations were born and lost around water, but today, in spite of having knowledge, we still fail to understand the value of water in our lives.
Water scarcity
Water is a basic human need, yet in India today, water shortage is a huge issue that is escalating at an alarming rate. The situation has gotten so bad that groundwater in several areas has practically dried up, forcing people too reliant on other sources of water. Water scarcity is determined by a multitude of factors. Water shortage is caused by two primary factors: poor water management and our country's expanding population. In addition, a variety of other man-made problems are on the rise.
Aside from that, some of the issues of water scarcity tend to involve: Agriculture's wasteful usage of water. India, being an agricultural nation, generates a massive amount of food to feed its inhabitants. The surplus that remains is exported to other countries. In most parts of India, conventional irrigation practices are used, which place a premium on water supply. Water Recharge System Reduction. Even though rapid building using concrete and marbles may prevent rainfall from being absorbed in the earth, we nevertheless add some devices in our homes to store the rainwater. The groundwater can then be recharged. Water management, as well as, distribution is insufficient. In metropolitan settings, an efficient system for managing and distributing water is required. The Indian government must also improve its water treatment technologies and investment. Furthermore, we must verify that planning is optimized.
Approaches to Solving the Issue can be: Stop the Flowing Tap. People frequently leave the tap running during dishwashing and hand washing. Many ounces of water are wasted each year by these running taps. As a result, shutting the tap will alleviate the problem. Replace any dripping faucets. In India, it is common to observe taps or faucets that leak water even after they are turned off. This dripping faucet wastes up to 30,000 ounces of water every day, yet no one bothers to change it. As a result, we should replace these taps right now.
To summarise, water shortage is becoming an enormous issue. If we do not address the problem of water shortage today, future generations will suffer greatly and may be forced to purchase this essential at a high price.
