minutes if both the pipes are open, how long will it take to empty or fill the tank completely?

et the total volume of the tank be 20 units

X will fill 20/20 =1 unit per min

Y will empty 20/10 =2 units per min

if both the pipes are opened 1–2= -1 unit per min be filled

or we can say 1 unit will be emptied per min

given 3/5 ths full before opening both taps

so for full tank it takes 20 min to empty when both taps are open at the rate 1 unit per min.

and for 3/5 th part it takes 3/5 x 20 =12 mins to empty
