Given -
Wavelength of light in water = 4000A°
wavelength of light in glass = 2500A°
To find - Refractive index of glass with respect to water
Solution -
![\mu = \frac{ \lambda(1)}{ \lambda(2)} \mu = \frac{ \lambda(1)}{ \lambda(2)}](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=+%5Cmu+%3D++++%5Cfrac%7B+%5Clambda%281%29%7D%7B+%5Clambda%282%29%7D+)
then substituting the values we get
![\mu = \frac{4000}{2500} \mu = \frac{4000}{2500}](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=+%5Cmu+%3D++%5Cfrac%7B4000%7D%7B2500%7D+)
therefore Refractive index of glass is
![\mu(g) = 1.6 \mu(g) = 1.6](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=+%5Cmu%28g%29+%3D++1.6+)
Wavelength of light in water = 4000A°
wavelength of light in glass = 2500A°
