Answer:

THE WAVEFRONT IS WITH THE ANGLE 60° WITH THE SURFACE OF SEPARATION AND REFRATED RAY.

Explanation:

Concept:

  • A wavefront is the locus/set of all the points, which is of having the same phase at the given instant of time.
  • There are three types of wavefronts, which are: Plane wavefront, Spherical wavefront, Cylindrical wavefront.
  • Direction of propagation of the wave is always perpendicular to the direction of its oscillation/ motion of wave.
  • According to snell's law ,angle of incidence must be equal to angle of reflection. and the constant(μ) is called refractive index.
  • (sin i/sin r=μ)

Step by step explanation::

\mu_iSin(i)=\mu_r Sin(r)\\\\\mu_i= 1$ (Refractive index of incident medium)\\\\\mu_r= \sqrt{2} $ (Refractive  index of refractive medium)\\1 Sin(45) =\sqrt{2}sin(r)\\\\( sin 45=\frac{1}{\sqrt{2} } )\\\\1\times \frac{1}{\sqrt{2} }=\sqrt{2}\times Sin (r) \\ Sin(r)=\frac{1}{2} \\r= sin^{-1} (\frac{1}{2} )\\r=30^{0}

r= 30° then angle between the normal and surface of separation  is

90°-30°=60°.

Refer the figure.
