1)Make the surfaces smoother. Rough surfaces produce more friction and smooth surfaces reduce friction.
2)Lubrication is another way to make a surface smoother. ...3) Make the object more streamlined. ... 4)reduce  the forces acting on the surfaces. .. 5)Reduce the contact between the surfaces.

friction is caused because of the interloking irregularities of two surface thus,if irregularities are minimized the friction will get reduced.......

BY USING FINE POWDERED...

Graphite is a very soft solid which can be ground ti a very fine state.it is then used as a lubricant in those parts of machinary where oil cannot to applied.,it fills up irregularities b/w the surface and hence,reduce friction similarly,finelt POWDERED talcum is used as a lubricant for example..we spread it on the carromboard so,as to reduce friction between the carromboard and the coils....
