There are two types of adrenal glands
1. Adrenal medulla           2. Adrenal cortex

Adrenal medulla secretes a hormone called adrenaline.
The main function of adrenaline is: It prepares our body to face an emergency situation.
Ex: Increase in heartbeat, anger etc.

Adrenal cortex secretes a hormone called cortisone which is mainly of two types
1. Mineralcorticoids: Regulates proteins metabolism
2. Glucocorticoids: Regulates fats metabolism

The main function of this hormone is to reduce inflammation and swelling at the site of injury.
