Description

• In the skin, LSA appears as pale spots that become thin, glossy, and parchment-like.
• Clusters of minute white lesions that mix together make up the patches.

Causes

• Women between the ages of 40 and 60 are most commonly affected, while cases involving younger women and men have been observed.
• The foreskin is usually impacted in the few occurrences of LSA in men, making retraction of the foreskin impossible.

Symptoms

• One or more areas of dry, thickened skin, often accompanied by persistent itching, are likely to be the first indicators of vulvar dystrophy.
• The fat layer directly beneath the vulvar skin may be removed, resulting in flat, reduced outer labia.

Treatment

• Topical antipruritics, corticosteroids, and testosterone are applied to the afflicted areas as a treatment.
• In severe cases, surgical excision of the damaged skin layers may be beneficial.
