It is because water is a good conductor of electricity and there is high possibility that the person pouring water over the naked electrical wiring may get an electrical shock, which can be fatal.

Answer:

Water is not used for extinguishing fires caused due to electrical faults because water is good conductor of electricity. If water is poured on an electrical fire, the water could conduct electricity causing the person trying to extinguish the fire to experience an electric shock.

Hope it will help you
