We are in open place and nothing is there and it is lightning .why we should not sleep on ground ? why we should bend and cover our head​

I don't remember the proper answer, but as far as I know, lightning mostly aims at high objects, so that is why we are told to bend and cover our head, so that lightning does not strike us. But I am also confused that why should we not sleep on the ground........
