Explanation:

.One thing you should always consider while cleaning stains is the type of paint you used on the wall in the first place. Semi-gloss and glossy enamel paints are more likely to stand up best to washing. Flat, satin, and eggshell latex paints, on the contrary, may weaken or rub off with overly rough cleaning. So, always experiment the method in an inconspicuous area of the wall to ensure your method itself does not damage your wall before you begin.

.For spot-cleaning, apply a paste made of baking soda and water. Gently rub over the stain and let it dry. Wash with clean water and dry with a soft cloth to finish the process.

.For relatively small stains, add ¼ teaspoon of soap in a cup of warm water and mix thoroughly. Wet a cloth with this mixture and wipe the stained area then rinse with clean water, and blot with a dry towel until it dries. For minor grease stains, rinse with a solution of 2/3 cup of water with 1/3 cup of plain white vinegar you probably have lying around at home.

.If the stain is stubborn and does not wash off with the above mentioned ways, try the following: Mix 1/4 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar, and 1 cup ammonia with 3 liters of warm water. Spread the solution over walls with an apt sponge or cloth, and clean with clear water. The advantage of this solution is that it will not dull the painted finish or leave streaks.

.If for some reason you are unable to clean the food stain with the household ingredients mentioned, you might want to look at actual wall cleaners. Special products such as the Siege Premium Kitchen Degreaser, which is a solvent-free degreaser, will break the bonds with which the stain holds on to the paint.

.If all else fails and the stain cannot be removed, it may be easiest to simply paint over it with the original color. Before doing so, apply a coat of simple primer or stain-killing primer, such as Kilz Paint. The primer will prevent the grease from coming back through the paint surface.
