When we beat a blanket with a stick to remove dust particles, the dust particles come out.
This all happens due to inertia of rest.
The dust particles are at rest with the blanket. As we hit the blanket the blanket gets into motion i.e., changes its state to motion from rest but the dust particles try to resist this motion by inertia of rest. Thus they come out.
