When we beat the carpet the dust present in it suddenly comes in a state of motion but the tendency of dust is to remain at rest which is known as the inertia of rest due to this sudden motion the dust come out of the carpet...........

whereas when we beat the blanket the blanket gains momentum
and hence the dust particles are removed from the blanket
