We beat a blanket with a stick to remove dust particles. why?

when we beat the blanket it moves backwards but due to its abrupt movement the dust particles stay in the same place due to inertia following newton's first law of motion.so the dust gets separated from the blanket.

When you beat the blanket with stick , the blanket is set into motion while the dust particles tend to maintain their original state of rest and hence falling off.... INERTIA of an object tends to resist any changes in its State of motion.. When blanket is beaten with stick then blanket comes in motion
