hi dear.

bcz when we hear a carpet only the carpet comes in a.state of motion but the dust particles remain in the state of rest ...

so when the carpet comes in a motion the dust particles moves down automatically...
hence carpet get free from dust .

this is an example of Newton law of motion

hope it will help you

it is the live and common example of property inertia.
The carpet is a cloth and dust sticks to it very easily. When you hit the carpet a sudden deformation is faced by carpet's surface, because of the force with which it has been strucked, the carpet moves but since it is not directly applied to dust particals , the dust particles stays at the same place due to their inertia. so the carpet moves while dust particals stays at the same place and dust leaves the carpet's surface thus these two get separated.
hope it helps
