If we make an overall profit of 30 AED on 2 tickets of Airlines at 700 AED, then the cost price of Air India is Rs. 283.33.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1:

The cost of two tickets (Air India & SpiceJet) = 700 AED

Overall profit = 30 AED

S.P. of two tickets = 700 + 30 = 730 AED ….. (i)

Step 2:

Let the cost price of the Air India ticket be “x” AED and the cost price of Spice Jet ticket be “(700 - x)” AED.

Required formula:

S.P. = [(100 ± P% or L%)/100] * C.P.

Profit% of Air India ticket is given as = 40%

So, S.P. of Air India ticket = x [(100+40)/100] ….. (ii)

Loss % of Spice Jet ticket is given as =  20%

So, S.P. of Spice Jet ticket = [700-x] * [(100-20)/100] ….. (iii)

Step 3:

Now, adding (ii) & (iii) and equating with (i), we get

x [\frac{100+40}{100}] + {700-x} * {\frac{100-20}{100}} = 730

⇒ 1.4x + [(700-x)*0.8] = 730

⇒ 1.4x + 560 – 0.8x = 730

⇒ 0.6 x = 170

x = 283.33 AED

Thus, the cost price of Air India Airline ticket is 283.33 AED.
