▶Theory :- If a component of the gas mixture, transferred to liquid, is a gas at operating condition of mass transfer, then it is called Absorption .

⭐Procedure :-

• Take a piece of chalk.
• Take inkpot & dropper
• Put little amount of ink & repeat the process till observe.

✏Observation :- The chalk took color of ink.

✏Conclusion :- It's possible to absorb ink using a piece of chalk.

✏Precautions :-

• Wear gloves .
• Use aprain.
• Do it on a piece of newspaper.

We can absorb ink using a piece of chalk. The phenomenon of absorption and adsorption takes place simultaneously in this case.

• We notice two phenomena:

1. Absorption of the solvent- the liquid of gas penetrates the body of the substance.

2. Adsorption of the colour- the process of adhesion of particles or components from any state of matter to a surface.

• When a chalk is dipped in ink, the coloured substance accumulates on the surface( only the surface gets coloured) and hence it is only a surface phenomenon. If the check is broken, we do not find any colour inside.

• Again, the solvent gets absorbed and thereby penetrates into the chalk.
