we can easily move our hand in air but to do the same through a solid block of wood we need a karate expert. why???

As particles of matter have space between them. the inter molecular space is most in gas than in solid. so we r easily able to move our hands in air than in solid.

we can easily move our hand in air because air is a gas which means that it has high inter particle space and low force of attraction and the density is also low . while wooden block is solid so it has low inter particle space and high force of attraction and the density is also high.
