We can move our hand in the air easily than a solid block because molecules of air are very very loosely packed but molecules in a solid block is very tightly packed.

A karate expert breaks a solid block with an angle with practise.

Hope this helps u

Air is a gas, it has more space in between particles. But solid block of wood is rigid, hence it is difficult to move our hands through it.
