In solids the force of attraction or intermolecular force is more so we can't .In liquids the force of attraction is little bit less so it is not much as solids .But in gases there is no force of attraction at all. So we can.

Air is a gas, it has more space in between particles. But solid block of wood is rigid, hence it is difficult to move our hands through it.
