Explanation:

Oxygen and nitrogen gases can be liquified by applying pressure and lowering temperature. On applying enough pressure, oxygen and nitrogen gases compress into a small volume. Thus, the particles of gases become closer and the force of attraction between the particles increases. Again heat produced during such compression is removed by lowering temperature. Thus, for applying pressure and lowering temperature particles of gases come close and the gases convert into liquid. But on applying enough pressure and lowering temperature, carbon dioxide gas converts into dry ice, which is a solid form of carbon dioxide which looks like ice but not as wetted as ice.
