The flame of a candle has three types of zones within eight and there are three colours for these zones zones can be named as:

Outer zone:

  • This is the outermost part of the flame which is normally seen in blue colour.
  • The outer zone of the flame shows this colour due to the complete combustion takes place of the wax vapours.
  • The vapours are completely burnt in this zone, it is the hottest zone of all.

Middle zone:

  • This zone has an intermediate temperature and the colour is usually yellow.
  • It covers most part of the flame and is the zone where intermediate burning of vapours takes place.

Inner zone:

  • This is the least hot zone of all the zones and is normally colourless in nature.
  • This is because this area has most of the vapours in it and only after crossing this area they start burning.
