we can see that at the last coach of train there is a cross mark...what is purpose of this mark?

the mark is for safety reasons if the mark is not there on the last coach of the train means one more coaches have separated.

Purpose of Cross Mark !!!
The ‘X’ mark on the rear of the coach indicate that the coach is the last one.
In addition to this, there will be a lamp (Helpful in night) and a small board with ‘LV’ (LastVehicle board) is often attached to the rear of the vehicle.
When the train passes by a station or a signal cabin without the LV indication, it is assumed that the train has separated and necessary emergency procedures are taken.

Color of that cross mark is yellow :
1) Yellow color is more sensitive to our eyes and can be visualized easily even in Foggy weather !

Red Lights are also used as wavelenght of red light is larger than any other 6 colors in VIBGYOR of Rainbow.
Hence, its light rays travels longer distances than other and can be seen at far away!
