Sound waves can't travel in space hence, we can't hear the sound of exploding meteors in the sky.
Explanation:
- When a meteor explodes it produces light in form of heat energy and sound. But the sound needs medium to travel whereas light does not need any medium.
- That's why the sound stops within a few distance of its origin and light travel in space and reach us on Earth. That is why we can see the exploding meteor, but only at night, and cannot hear it.
