Because, if we pluck the seeds of cereal plant directly. we may feel difficult to carry each & every seed as it will be in more in quantity.

Answer:

  • The seeds of cereal plants should not be plucked by hands like we pluck fruit plants from a plant.
  • In a fruit plant or tree, the plant or tree remains there and we do not cut the whole plant or tree for the sake of fruit, only the fruit is hand-plucked.
  • The life of the cereal plant ends with the seed maturation and hence they are cut and the seeds are used for harvesting or preserved for sowing the next season.
  • The mature stalk along with the cereal seeds should be cut with a machete or scythe.
  • If we pluck by hand, the seeds may fall loose on the ground. The remaining part of the cut cereal plant stub is left for drying.
