Answer:

Moon does not have its own light. It gets its light from the Sun's rays that fall on it and are reflected towards the Earth. Thus, we can see only the illuminated part, (i.e., the part on which the rays fall) of the Moon. On a new moon day, the illuminated part of the moon faces the Sun whereas, the dark part, i.e., the non-illuminated part of the moon faces the Earth. Thus, we cannot see the moon

Answer:

The Moon is visible during the day. Not always, though. It all depends on the phase of the Moon, the time of day, as well as atmospheric conditions.

During a full moon the Moon is directly opposite the Sun in the sky. This means that the Moon only shows in the sky after the Sun sets. And, vice versa, at dawn the Moon is just about to hide below the horizon. On the other hand side, during a new moon, or close to it, the Moon is very close to the Sun in the sky. Additionally, only a tiny part of it is actually illuminated, making it faint. Since the close-by Sun is so bright, it outshines the faint, slim crescent Moon. Therefore, in these two phases we can not see it during the day.

It would appear, thus, that the best times to observe the Moon during the day is when it is either waxing or waning. Additionally, it should not be very close to a new moon, so that the eventual crescent is not obscured by bright sunlight.

This means that you will ever be able to see a crescent Moon, best visible in the morning or in the evening (depending whether it is waning or waxing, respectively) due to the relatively lower brightness of the sky.
