"We don't know what the future has in store for us." The statement according to the poet's situation says that if he chooses that path which has been used many times, he can't discover about the new path which has not been used and he doesn't know what will he get on that path, it can be either danger or maybe something very nice. He doesn't know what the future will bring to him if he goes on that path.
