It would take 99 seconds or 1 minute and 39 seconds.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

We have a 100-meter piece of ribbon. It takes one second to cut it into a 1-meter strip.

The first cut divide the piece of ribbon in two parts, one having a length of 1 meter and another having a length of 99 meter.

Similarly for the second cut it divide again in two parts, one having a length of 1 meter and another having a length of 98 meter.

But the 99th cut divide the length of ribbon in two parts both having a length of 1 meter, the remaining foot does not have to be cut.

Hence, it would take 99 seconds or 1 minute and 39 seconds.
