Let no of 1 rupees, 2 rupees and 5 rupees be x, y and z

given that

x+y+z=160 ........ (1)

also y = 3z ..........(2)

x + 3z + z =160

x + 4z =160 ......... (3)

We have total amount = 300

Therefore, x+2y+5z = 300

again y = 3z

x+2(3z)+5z = 300

x+6z+5z=300

x+11z=300 .............. (4)

subtract equation 3 from equation 4

x+11z=300 .............. (4)

x + 4z =160 ......... (3)

7z = 140

z = 20

then y = 3z = 60

x = 80

number of 1 rupees = 80

number of 2 rupees = 60

number of 5 rupees = 20
