Given:

We have to make packets of 500 g, 400 g and 250 g of Arhar dal

To find:

Find the least quantity of Arhar dal from which these packets are made exactly

Solution:

(1). There are packets of Arhar dal of 500 g, 400 g and 250 g. To find the least quantity of packets from which these packets of Arhar dal are made exactly, we will calculate the L.C.M. of 500 g, 400 g & 250 g.

(2). We will use the prime factorisation method to find the L.C.M. of 500, 400 & 250.

Factors:

500 = 2 × 2 × 5 × 5 × 5

400 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 5 × 5

250 = 2 × 5 × 5 × 5

Least Common Multiple:

∴ L.C.M. of 500, 400 & 250 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 5 × 5 × 5 = 2000

Thus, the least quantity of Arhar dal from which these packets are made exactly is → 2000 g.
