We have two systems in our body that help in coordination of body activities - the nervous
system and the endocrine system. The nervous system coordinates the body functions by
transmitting electric signals through neurons. The endocrine system coordinates through
endocrine glands that release chemical substances called hormones which are circulated
through blood. For example, the hormone insulin, signals the body cells to absorb glucose
from the blood to be used for energy. If the body has sufficient energy, insulin signals the
liver to take up the glucose from the blood and store it as glycogen.

Answer:
Along with the nervous system, the endocrine system coordinates the body's functions to maintain homeostasis during rest and exercise. The nervous and endocrine systems also work together to initiate and control movement, and all the physiological processes movement involves.
