We have two variable capacitors; each of them can be varied from 10pF to 500pF. What minimum and maximum capacitances can be obtained by combining them?
(Answer is : 5pF and 1000pF)

using peak capacitance i.e 10pf and 500pf we can use three combinations. Each of these three combinations, can also be used in two combinations ie series and parallel.
by mistake, I used microferad instead of picoferad, but that is also fine ..
