we hear sound more clearly in a furnished room than in an empty room. give reason ?

In a furnished room there are things like cupboards and furniture.They act as absorbing materials. so they absorb sound and do not give a chance for any occurrence of resound.But in a empty room you may experience some resound. Hence sound is clear in a furnished room than a empty room.
