We know that a freely suspended magnet in the air aways show geographical north and south or magnet north pole attracts towards south pole of earth and south pole attracts towards north pole of the earth. My question is that the magnetic compass which we are using always shows noth and south direction. If we have to go to the south then we have to move towards north direction in the compass or not . WHy? Because every magnet shows north and south direction. please explain me fully so that i can score good marks in my upcoming exams? urgent

In a magnetic compass, the north magnetic pole of the magnet used is marked as south.
So when the north pole is attracted towards south it indicates south direction. So we don't need to go to the north according to compass to actually go to south.
