I think they had a lot of idle time thinking about such stuffs, because nowadays the kids are all busy doing school homework which don't enhance kids creativity.
If we talk about the teenagers, then they are busy in other waste of time activities, again no time for critical thinking. The jobs are also having the same pattern throughout the life.
