We know that air has mass, and we have a thick layer of air above us. Why don’t we feel the mass of this air?

The only reason that we do not feel the pressure and we are not squashed into a teeny tiny speck of blubber is that the air exerts this pressure on us in all directions, including from the inside. So neither the weight of one cubic meter of air on Earth nor the mass is negligible.
