combustion of glucose occuring outside the body is simply a reaction done manually whereas respiration occurs itself that is it is automated reaction, we dont have to guide our body to do it.

combustion of glucose occuring outside will give out energy in the form of heat. but respiration on the other hand results in the formation of ATP (Adinosine Trinucleotide Phosphate) which is the energy currency of a cell.
