we know that in liquid state the molecules are little bit near comparing to gas. But when we compress the gas in a container, the molecules also comes little bit nearer, then y didn't the gas convert into liquid state.

When gas is compressed it changes into liquid or if the temperature is decreased then also it changes its state to liquid.
The compression applies by u is not maximum to change the state of matter from gas to liquid.
