We know that methanal is corrosive but why it is still used to preserve biological specimens?

good question.

as we know to preserve any specimen we need to kill the bacteria or organisms found in the animal or we have to stop his cellular activities then we have to store it with in a jar or bottle with doing so we are not to harm the specimen and we use methanol as he preserve the specimen for long years
and as the animal or organisms is nomore living it died so it cant cause anything to the organisms
